Weekend Shutouts Bode Well for Rebels’ Season
Goaltending and defence made quick work of offensive attacks from the AAA Weyburn Southern Range Gold Wings this past Thanksgiving weekend.  Weyburn was routinely shut down in the neutral zone and unable to move offensively into a scoring opportunity.  On Saturday, at the Rebel’s home ice season opener, Nikki Watters-Matthes scored the lone goal in a tight game which ended 1-0 for the Rebels.  Veteran goalie Rae McClintock stopped 18 shots on goal while Weyburn’s Jane Kish made 27 saves in net.  On Sunday, October 7th, the Rebels travelled to Weyburn where Rookie goaltender Tatum Shand took her turn for a shutout with a Rebel victory ending in 3-0.  Shand stopped 10 shots on goal while Jane Kish kept out 27 for the Gold Wings.  Moose Jaw native Hannah Heisler claimed 2 goals while Teah Anderson scored one for the Rebels’ victory.  The Rebels’ next match up will be on October 17th at 7:30 against the Notre Dame Hounds.  Tickets available for this and any game can be purchased from team management staff or at the door of Cooperators Rink #6.

Rebels Looking Forward to U. S. Road Trip

S. colleges. The club boasts 11% of all Division 1 college players currently playing are from the Thoroughbred program alone and historically, 50+ alumni have been selected for College, National and Olympic teams.  They carry 14 skaters and 2 goalies on their current roster.  The Regina Rebels are looking forward to matchups against teams from Canada and the U. S. at the Thoroughbred Tournament.

Parents / Players and Female Hockey Supporters!

Today concluded 5 fun-filled days of skill development, power skating and a conditioning scrimmage as part of our inaugural Regina Rebel Fall Prep Camp 2012. This year’s camp was an  outstanding success providing over 40 girls from Regina and the surrounding area an opportunity to skate with current and former Regina Rebel players. Camp participants were provided  2 sessions of former Regina Pat legend Dale Derkatch’s “All Offense” hockey program focusing on stick-handling, passing and puck control.

The other 2 sessions featured Brent Bobyck’s power skating. Brent’s program “ A Need for Speed” provided our girls with the basic techniques and concepts to become fluent, powerful and smooth skaters. The girls were also required to take part in a pre-ice warm up as a group to ensure a proper warm up was done before our ice sessions. Today’s scrimmage was filled with a very close game with Team White coming up with a hard-fought 3-2 win over Team Red.

The Regina Rebels thank all parents and players for making this camp such a success!

Yours in Hockey,

Regina Rebels Fall Camp

Hockey Regina Inc. (HRI) and the Regina Rebels Female Midget AAA Hockey Club are pleased to announce the Rebels 2010-11 Fall Evaluation Camp will open on August 26th, 2010 in Regina, SK.

The objective of the Fall Camp is to select the 2010-11 Rebels team, however, it will also be an excellent developmental opportunity for players who expect to challenge for roster spots in future years. Eligibility for the Rebels is open to bantam and midget aged players who are residents of Regina.  In addition, up to five roster positions may be filled by non-Regina imports.

The 2010-11 season will be an exciting one for the Rebels organization as the team will be moving to a new home, the Co-operators Centre at EVRAZ Place, where for the first in franchise history the team will have a permanent dressing room.

The upcoming season will once again see the Rebels play a 28 game Saskatchewan Female Midget AAA Hockey League (SFMAAAHL) schedule between mid September and the end of February, with playoffs extending into March and early April.  The other seven league teams are: Battlefords Sharks, Melville Prairie Fire, Notre Dame Hounds, Prince Albert A&W Bears, Saskatoon Stars, Swift Current Wildcats, and Weyburn Gold Wings.

The primary focus in Midget AAA hockey is league play, however the team expects to attend two or three tournaments – notably the Notre Dame North American Showcase in Wilcox, SK, the Mac’s Midget AAA Tournament in Calgary, AB, (December 26th to January 1st) if we qualify and/or are invited to each.  The tournaments selected will create opportunities to compete against the best Midget teams in Western Canada and the U.S. as well as provide exposure to both Canadian and U.S. college scouts.

To participate in the camp, please register by downloading the registration form and mailing $95.00 payable to Regina Rebels Fall Camp, c/o Lynn Tulloch, 2411 Klein Place East, Regina, Saskatchewan, S4V 2B6.  Note: Completed registration forms must be received by August 19th, 2010 to guarantee a spot in this camp. The camp has a limited number of spaces so first paid registrations will be given priority.

The complete camp schedule will be posted on this website just prior to the camp opening so please continue checking back for further details. Players will only be guaranteed participation in three sessions, after which releases will begin and continue until the final roster is established in mid September.

If you have any questions regarding this camp or the Rebels program in general please contact Lynn Tulloch, Chair, Rebels Management Council via phone at: 539-5491 or e-mail at: lynn.tulloch@sasktel.net.

HRI and the Rebels are looking forward to the 5th exciting season of Female Midget AAA hockey!

Hockey Regina Inc. (HRI) and the Regina Rebels Female Midget AAA Hockey Club are pleased to announce the Rebels 2009-10 Fall Evaluation Camp will open on August 26th, 2009 at the Doug Wickenheiser Arena in Regina, SK.

The objective of the Fall Camp is to select the 2009-10 Rebels team, however, it will also be an excellent developmental opportunity for players who expect to challenge for roster spots in future years. Eligibility for the Rebels is open to bantam and midget aged players who are residents of Regina.  In addition, up to five roster positions may be filled by a non-Regina import.   Out of town players who have played on HRI teams for three consecutive years immediately prior to trying out for the Rebels are not considered imports.

The 2009-10 season will be an exciting one for the Rebels organization as Hockey Canada recently announced that Regina will play host to the 2010 Esso Cup, Canada's National Female Midget AAA Championship from April 19th to 25th, 2010.  The Regina Rebels are proud to be the host team for this prestigious event and look forward to competing against the top Female Midget AAA teams from across Canada at the new Co-operators Centre show arena at EVRAZ Place in Regina.

The upcoming season will once again see the Rebels play a 28 game Saskatchewan Female Midget AAA Hockey League (SFMAAAHL) schedule between October 1st and the end of February, with playoffs extending into March and early April.  The other seven league teams are: Battlefords Sharks, Melville Prairie Fire, Notre Dame Hounds, Prince Albert A&W Bears, Saskatoon Stars, Swift Current Wildcats, and Weyburn Gold Wings.

The primary focus in Midget AAA hockey is league play, however the team expects to attend three or four tournaments - notably the Notre Dame North American Showcase in Wilcox, SK where the Rebels are the defending champions, the Mac's Midget AAA Tournament in Calgary, AB, (December 26th to January 1st) and the Stars Classic in Saskatoon, SK if we qualify and/or are invited to each.  The tournaments selected will create opportunities to compete against the best Midget teams in Western Canada and the U.S. as well as provide exposure to both Canadian CIS and U.S. college scouts.

Players that continue to advance through the evaluation process after that practice will then participate in two exhibition games, the first on September 12th, 9:15 p.m at the Doug Wickenheiser Arena when the Weyburn Goldwings are in town to face the Rebels, and second on Monday September 15th at 7:00 p.m. when the Rebels travel to Weyburn for a rematch with the Goldwings. After completion of the second exhibition game final releases will be made and the try outs will culminate with the posting of the final 2008/09 Regina Rebels roster on this site.

Once again thank you for attending our 2009 fall camp, and I hope you enjoyed the experience.

Regina Rebels Fall Camp

Hockey Regina Inc. (HRI) and the Regina Rebels Female Midget AAA Hockey Club are pleased to announce the Rebels 2008-09 Fall Evaluation Camp will open on September 2nd, 2008.

The objective of the Fall Evaluation Camp is to select the 2008-09 Rebels team, however, it will also be an excellent developmental opportunity for players who expect to challenge for roster spots in future years.

For the 2008-09 season, the team will once again play a 28 game SFMAAAHL league schedule between October 1st and the end of February, with playoffs extending into March.  The other seven league teams are: Battlefords Sharks, Melville Prairie Fire, Notre Dame Hounds, Prince
Albert A&W Bears, Saskatoon Stars, Swift Current Wildcats, and Weyburn Gold Wings.  The winner of the league championship will represent Saskatchewan in a playoff against the Manitoba Champions with the series winner advancing to the inaugural Canadian Female Midget Championship.

The primary focus in Midget AAA hockey is league play, however the team expects to attend some tournaments - notably the North American AAA Classic in Grand Forks, ND, the Notre Dame North American Showcase in Wilcox, SK, the Mac's Midget AAA Tournament in Calgary, AB, (held from December 26th to 31st) and the Comet Classic in Saskatoon, SK if we qualify and/or are invited to each.  Each of the tournaments selected will create opportunities to compete against the best Midget teams in Western Canada and the US as well as provide exposure to both Canadian CIS and U.S. college scouts.

To participate in the camp, please register by downloading the registration form and send $80.00 payable to Regina Rebels Fall Camp, c/o Lynn Tulloch, 2411 Klein Place East, Regina, Saskatchewan, S4V 2B6. You may also email completed registration forms to lynn.tulloch@sasktel.net.

NOTE: Completed registration forms must be received by August 19th, 2008 to guarantee a spot in this camp.

The complete camp schedule will be posted here in late August so please continue checking back for further details.  Players will only be guaranteed participation in three sessions, after which releases will begin and continue until the final roster is established in mid September.

HRI and the Rebels are looking forward to the 3rd exciting season of Female Midget AAA hockey!
