Doug Folk, Head Coach

Doug played for the University of Regina Cougars, the University of Saskatchewan Huskies, and in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League. During his time at the U of R, the Cougars were ranked #1 in Canada for most of the 1980-81 season and won the CIS Silver Medal. The team was inducted into the university athletic Hall of Fame. Doug went on to play Senior AA, winning the Provincials Championship with the Westridge Bruins.

Doug has been coaching female minor hockey in Regina since 1992. He has also coached with the SHA’s Sask. First Under-18 female team and was an assistant coach with the winter games team in 2010 that finished 4th at the Canada Games. Doug has his CHA High Performance 1 Coaching certificate and has completed his NCCP Competition Development-Level 3 certification.

This will be Doug’s sixth year as Head Coach with the Regina Rebels Hockey Club.

 


Bob Brenna , Assistant Coach

Bob graduated from the University of Saskatchewan in 1974 and was awarded a Major Athletic Award as a five year athlete on both the Huskies Football and Track teams. Bob coached Huskies football and served as the head coach in 1979.

Bob has coached in the HRI program for over 20 years.  He has coached both the Pat Canadians and the Rebels at the Midget AAA level. He has also been an instructor for the SHA and has coached with the Sask. First program. Bob has been instrumental in the development of the Rebels and the midget AAA league over the past 8 years.

Bob and his wife Jane Welsh have three children.  Thomas attended Ohio State University on a hockey scholarship and played for the NCAA Div. 1 Buckeyes from 2001-2005.  Monica captained the Princeton University Div. 1 hockey team and is now back in Regina helping with the Rebels.  Olivia attended Simon Fraser University and competed in the cross country and track programs.

This is Bob’s fourth year as an Assistant Coach with the Rebels.

Assistant Coach – Monica Brennan

This is Monica’s second year as an Assistant Coach with the Rebels.  She is a Rebel’s alumnus and played as a student–athlete at Princeton University which she completed her Bachelor of Arts in Architecture.  Monica played 4 years, NCAA Division 1, at Princeton University and was named Captain in her senior year.  Before leaving for Princeton Monica was an Alternate Captain on the Team Sask. U18 team. She played 13 years in the Hockey Regina programs.

Monica is currently working on a second degree at the U of R,  Arts Education with the intention of becoming an art teacher.

 


Assistant Coach - Kim Perepeluk
Kim is currently in his first year as an assistant coach with the Regina Rebels Hockey Club. Kim is married to Marnie and they have three children – Brady, Chelsea and Ryan. Kim is currently the Athletic Director at Sheldon-Williams Collegiate in Regina. Prior to returning to Regina Kim spent eight years in Salzburg, Austria serving as The Director of Hockey at the Red Bull International Ice Hockey Academy. During his time in Europe and a member of Canada’s High Performance Coaching Program Kim was a member of the coaching staff of Team Canada’s entries at the Spengler Cup ( Davos, Switzerland ) and the Men’s World Championships in Innsbruck, Austria and Moscow, Russia.

Prior to leaving to Europe Kim spent 5 years teaching and coaching midget AAA at Athol Murray College of Notre Dame in Wilcox, Saskatchewan.  During his time at Notre Dame Kim was an Assistant Coach of Team Saskatchewan at the Canada Winter Games & Head Coach of Team Western at the World U 17 Hockey Challenge. Kim played his minor hockey in Regina – was a member of the Regina Pat Canadians National Championship team – and a four year member of the University of Regina Men’s Hockey Team.
